Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Strip's transparency and technical processing.
Does Strip upload my photos anywhere?
No. All processing happens entirely on your device. Your photos never leave your phone. We don't have servers that receive user files.
What metadata can Strip remove?
Strip removes EXIF data (GPS, device info, timestamps, camera & lens details, exposure settings), XMP data (creator, title, rights fields), and IPTC data (keywords, authorship, copyright).
Will the image quality change after scrubbing?
No. Strip uses a lossless path for JPEG processing. The image pixels are untouched — only the invisible metadata containers are cleared.
What's the difference between free and Pro?
The free tier allows auditing and scrubbing up to 3 photos at a time. Pro unlocks batch processing (up to 100 photos), selective field preservation, and the full EXIF/XMP/IPTC inspector.
Why does the app need internet permission?
Only for Google Play license verification and in-app purchases. The core metadata scrubbing works fully offline and never uses this permission for file processing.
Is the app open source?
We follow an 'Open Intent' philosophy. While the UI and core scrub logic are proprietary to prevent cloning, we provide full technical transparency on what is being removed and why, visible through the in-app inspector.
